In short: we collect the information you choose to give us and limited technical information needed to run our website and platform. We use it to provide our services, respond to enquiries, and keep our platform secure. We do not sell your personal information.
01Introduction
SCANITY is operated by Scanity International Private Limited ("SCANITY", "we", "us" or "our"). SCANITY is a subscription-based digital business platform that helps businesses build and strengthen their online presence.
Depending on the plan and features a business uses, the platform may include digital business profiles, service showcases and galleries, business contact details, appointment and service booking, enquiry and lead forms, product catalogues and order enquiries, rental product information, business discovery listings, offers and promotions, and — where available — loyalty, referral and partner programmes. Not every feature is active for every business or user.
We handle personal information in accordance with applicable Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it, and we are preparing for the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 as their provisions come into force in phases.
02Scope and Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to personal information we process about:
- Visitors to the SCANITY website and business listings.
- Business owners and their authorised team members who create or manage a SCANITY account.
- Customers and members of the public who view a business profile, send an enquiry, book a service or interact with a business through SCANITY.
- People who respond to our advertisements or contact us through social media, messaging apps, email or phone.
Businesses that use SCANITY decide how they use the customer information they receive through their profile. Those businesses are responsible for their own handling of that information, and their own privacy practices may also apply.
03Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Contact details — such as your name, email address, mobile number and city or location.
- Account and business details — such as business name, category, address, description, logo, cover images, gallery content, products, services and opening information.
- Enquiry and booking details — the messages, requests and preferences you submit through forms.
- Communications — the content of emails, messages and calls you exchange with us.
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser information, IP address, pages visited, and dates and times of access.
- Information from cookies and similar technologies, described in section 09.
- Security signals, for example from spam-protection tools used on our forms.
Information from other sources
We may receive information about you from advertising and social media platforms (for example, when you submit an instant lead form on Facebook or Instagram), from people who refer you to us, or from publicly available professional sources, where permitted by law.
04SCANITY Business Owners Accounts
When a business signs up for SCANITY, we collect the account holder's details (such as name, email, mobile number and location) and the business information needed to build and publish its digital profile.
Information a business chooses to publish — such as its name, category, description, images, address, contact details, products and services — is visible to the public on its profile and may appear in our business discovery listings. Business owners can update or remove published information through their account.
We use account information to provide and support the service, manage subscriptions and renewals, send service and account notices, and prevent misuse. Payments for subscriptions may be handled by a third-party payment provider, which processes payment details under its own terms.
05Customers Interacting With Businesses
When you contact a business through SCANITY — for example by sending an enquiry, requesting a booking or making an order enquiry — the details you submit (such as your name, email, mobile number and message) are delivered to that business so it can respond to you. We also keep a record of the enquiry to operate the platform, prevent spam and abuse, and resolve disputes.
Once a business receives your details, it is responsible for how it uses them. If you have a question about a business's use of your information, please contact that business directly. You can also contact us and we will try to help.
06How We Use Personal Information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, operate and maintain the SCANITY website and platform.
- Create and manage accounts and business profiles.
- Deliver enquiries, bookings and order requests to the relevant business.
- Respond to questions, support requests and complaints.
- Send service, account and transactional communications.
- Send marketing communications where you have agreed to receive them.
- Measure and improve our website, features and advertising.
- Detect, prevent and investigate fraud, spam, security incidents and misuse.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We process personal information on the basis of your consent, or for other purposes the law permits — for example where you have voluntarily provided information for a specific purpose, or where processing is required to comply with law.
07Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:
- Businesses on SCANITY — when you send them an enquiry, booking or order request.
- Service providers — who help us run our operations, such as hosting, email and messaging delivery, spam protection, analytics, customer support and payment processing. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
- Our team and authorised representatives — who need the information to support customers and run our services.
- Professional advisers — such as lawyers, accountants and auditors, where needed.
- Authorities — where required by law, court order or a lawful government request, or to protect the rights, property or safety of SCANITY, our users or others.
- A successor business — in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.
Some service providers may store or process information outside India. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in line with this policy and applicable law.
08WhatsApp, Social Media and Third-Party Services
You may interact with us through third-party services such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and other social or messaging platforms. When you do, those platforms collect and process information under their own privacy policies and terms. We receive only what the platform makes available to us and what you choose to send.
Our website and business profiles may contain links to third-party websites, maps, social pages or apps. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to read their policies.
09Cookies and Website Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies, such as browser storage, to:
- Keep the website working and secure, including sessions and form security tokens.
- Remember preferences, such as your chosen layout or cookie choice.
- Protect forms from spam and automated abuse — for example using Google reCAPTCHA, which is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
- Understand how the website is used and, where we run advertising, measure its effectiveness.
You can manage cookies through our cookie notice, where shown, and through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the website work.
10Data Retention and Deletion
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as required or permitted by law. In practice:
- Account and business information is kept while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to handle renewals, disputes and legal obligations.
- Enquiry records are kept for as long as needed to operate the platform, support businesses and customers, and prevent abuse.
- Records we must keep by law, such as tax and accounting records, are kept for the period the law requires.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymise it within a reasonable time, unless we are legally required to keep it. Copies in backups may persist for a limited time until they are overwritten.
11Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse and alteration. These include restricting access to people who need it, using encrypted connections on our website, and protecting our forms against automated abuse.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a personal data breach that affects you, we will act to contain it and notify you and the relevant authorities where required by law.
12Your Rights, Requests and Consent
Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to:
- Give you a summary of the personal information we hold about you and how we use it.
- Correct, complete or update inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Erase personal information that is no longer needed, unless we must keep it by law.
- Withdraw consent you have given — this does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal, but it may mean we can no longer provide a service.
- Stop sending you marketing messages — you can also use the unsubscribe option in any message.
- Address a grievance about how we have handled your information.
- Record a nominee to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity, where the law provides for this.
To make a request, contact us using the details in section 15. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We aim to respond 30 days and within any time limit set by law.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to escalate your complaint to the Data Protection Board of India in accordance with applicable law.
13Children's Privacy
SCANITY is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
14Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example to reflect changes to our services or to the law, including as further provisions of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 come into force. We will post the updated policy on this page and change the "Last updated" date. Where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.
